In addition to the training and consultation offered , YDTRC collaborates with youth, youth-serving organizations, and funders on more extensive special projects.
As part of a statewide initiative, YDTRC serves as an intermediary for the Hamden Youth Advisory Council (HYAC) in their work to prevent underage drinking throughout Hamden. The social media campaign encourages youth and educates parents to make Positive Choices for a lifestyle free from the influence of alcohol and drugs. YDTRC serves as the technical assistance partner in the design, planning, implementation, and evaluation of this major prevention initiative.
Developing youth to their highest potential is one of the core values of YDTRC. In attempts to accomplish this goal, YDTRC partners with youth action teams and provides support and technical assistance.
YDTRC collaborates with youth networks such as the City Wide Youth Coalition, the Norwalk Collaborative for Youth Success and the CT Afterschool Network to provide training and technical assistance to member organizations.
As part of statewide efforts to Disproportionate Minority Contact, Connecticut Office of Policy and Management (OPM) awarded the Juvenile Justice System Improvement grant to The Consultation Center, Inc. and the Youth Development Training and Resource Center (YDTRC). The purpose of the grant was to improve police-youth relations through collaborative mini-grant projects that would engage youth leaders and police officers in the context of community- and school-based programs.
